Current Trends

Anxiety and depression account for a significant proportion of claims. We pursue a policy of early interrvention and proactive management of these conditions which includes use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

43.8% of claims notified as a result of anxiety/depression were helped back to work before the end of the deferred period. Of those individuals who were suffering from anxiety/depression and were put into payment 66.4% of these returned to work within the first year of absence.

48.9% of notified claims for individuals suffering from musculoskeletal problems were helped back to work before the end of the deferred period. Of those individuals who were suffering from musculoskeletal problems and were put into payment 69.9% of these returned to work within the first year of absence.

In 2011 we spent over £3M in providing rehabilitation to individuals supporting them back into the workplace at the earliest opportunity.
