We’re committed to helping our suppliers reach our CSR standards. We meet them regularly to discuss their CSR practices, and create opportunities to work together to improve our environmental and social impact. This gives us the chance to share best practice. We also involve our suppliers in workshops and seminars that target key issues.
- In January 2011, we invited representatives of two suppliers to attend a seminar organised by the team managing the Mayor of London’s Green Procurement Code. The seminar focused on green procurement and showcasing best practice examples of supplier engagement. We followed it by looking at how these suppliers were managing CSR issues within their own supply chains.
- In April we hosted an event at our offices in Coleman Street which had been organised by Business in the Community (BITC) and focused on “Managing Carbon in the Supply Chain”. A number of our suppliers were invited to attend, which BITC felt was “a great demonstration of the kind of practical support we would encourage businesses to provide to help their suppliers understand and embed responsible business practice.”
- At the seminar, we gave a presentation about our journey on climate change, sharing the tools we’ve identified as well as the guidance we offer our suppliers. We were delighted to learn from Bureau Veritas that, based on attendee feedback, the presentation was “very well received by the group.”
